Every Picture Tells a Story

To celebrate National Family Week and highlight the importance of families being together when their children are in hospital, RMHC has commissioned artist Prudence Stait to recreate the famous Klimt painting 'Mother and Child' using thousands of images of families who have stayed in Ronald McDonald Houses.

Collage artist Prudence Stait says, "This was a labour of love. Klimt's painting captures the essence of family closeness, but the sad reality is that the faces in my collage are of children who had to spend time in hospital.  I hope it helps people realise that it is important for children in hospital to stay as close to their families as possible."

Ronald McDonald House Charities Director Jon Haward says, "National Family Week celebrates all the positive aspects of family life.  We want to ensure that families with children in hospitals are included during this celebration."

The Klimt "mother and child" original was painted in 1905.

A Klimt painting sold for a world record $135m in 2006 - enough to open at least 20 new RMHC Houses in the UK.
