Ronald McDonald House Birmingham provides free 'home away from home' accommodation for families who have children at Birmingham Children's Hospital. In 2013, the House helped 1,042 families stay close to their sick children.
A Ronald McDonald House is more than just a place to stay. It offers comfort, support, a safe environment where families can interact, share their experiences and know that they will always have a shoulder to cry on. We encourage their extended families to come and visit and we host events and workshops to keep them strong and hopeful, such as 'Waffle Wednesdays'.
The House has communal lounges, kitchens, dining areas, playrooms and laundry facilities.
61 en suite bedrooms
2-minute walk to the children's ward
We need to raise £620,000 per year to keep the House open
It costs the Charity £25 to accommodate one family for one night
An average family stay is 12 nights
The longest time a family has stayed in our House is 425 nights
Every year, over 230,000 sick children from across the UK are treated at Birmingham Children's Hospital. The hospital has nine national specialist areas meaning people travel long distances to ensure that their children get the best possible treatment.
