Ronald McDonald House Brighton

Ronald McDonald House Brighton provides free 'home away from home' accommodation for families who have children and babies at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. In 2013, the House helped over 200 families stay close to their sick children.

About The House

A Ronald McDonald House is more than just a place to stay. It offers comfort, support, a safe environment where families can interact, share their experiences and know that they will always have a shoulder to cry on. To maintain a degree of normality, siblings and extended family can visit and stay at the House too. We offer normality, somewhere families can call home, when the rest of their world is in turmoil.

  • 18 en suite bedrooms

  • We need to raise £110,000 per year to keep the House open

  • It costs the Charity £25 to accommodate one family for one night

  • An average family stay is 19 nights

  • The longest time a family has stayed in our House is 370 nights

The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital provides high quality care for children who need surgical intervention as a result of illness, trauma or congenital abnormality, oncology patients and has a Paediatric Critical Care Unit to treat and care for critically ill children. The Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital is a specialist department for the care of premature and sick new-born babies.

"My son Caelan was born at 25 weeks weighing 1 lb 12oz. He had a few complications and not living locally meant spending less time with him. This fantastic Charity stepped in and offered me a place to stay, somewhere I could call home and be close to my son. I will forever be grateful for the fantastic support and work that Ronald McDonald House Brighton provides."

Amy Reeves, Caelan's mum
