Community Fundraiser

We are recruiting a Community Fundraiser based at our Birmingham House, to be responsible for developing and growing our community support across the West Midlands. We are looking for a fantastic experienced fundraiser with excellent communication skills, a pro-active attitude and someone that can really hit the ground running in a busy geographical area!

Salary: £20 - £24k, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Achieve agreed fundraising targets from new and existing supporters

To cultivate and recruit new and existing volunteers to participate in a range of third party fundraising events or to hold their own in aid of fundraising events

Reduce expenditure for the charity by sourcing appropriate in-kind donations

Support and motivate a regional fundraising sub-committee to raise funds through local events and contacts

With support from the Senior Fundraiser, contribute to development of annual plans and budgets for community organisations and produce regular reports back on progress against objectives and financial targets

Accurate logging of communications on in house database and ensuring thanking strategy is adhered to

Plan, oversee and coordinate fundraising events where necessary

Ensure that all fundraising conforms to industry best practice and legal requirements

Work with the Marketing and Communications department to produce appropriate fundraising materials and to ensure that all public relations opportunities are fully maximised

Represent Ronald McDonald House Charities at fundraising meetings, events and presentations outside normal office hours (evenings and weekends) as required

Line manage Community Fundraising Administrator

Identify, research potential new fundraising opportunities where required

Undertake any other duties of a compatible nature as may be required from time to time by management

Main Relationships

External: Local community groups, Board of Governors and all other supporters

Internal: Marketing and Communications Team, National Fundraising Team, Regional Fundraisers and all members of the House team

Personal Qualities


Proven community fundraising experience
Experience building relationships and high value partnerships with individuals and community groups
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copy-writing
Proactive approach to fundraising
Attention to detail and able to provide appropriate support at all levels
Good numeracy skills and ability to analyse and report on financial performance
Ability to work flexibly and under own initiative to manage varying competing priorities and to meet strict deadlines
Educated to degree level or significant equivalent work experience
Good working knowledge of MS Office
Commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities values and a working style that reflects these
Willingness to work some unsociable hours when required (evenings and weekends)
Full Driving license and access to a car


Experience of managing information on databases
Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of fundraising best practice, legal requirements and health & safety relating to community and events fundraising
Experience of managing volunteers
Events fundraising experience
