Ronald McDonald House GUY'S & ST THOMAS'

Ronald McDonald House Guy's & St Thomas' provides free 'home away from home' accommodation for families with children at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. In 2013, the House helped 410 families stay close to their children in hospital.

About The House

  • 20 en suite bedrooms

  • We need to raise £300,000 a year to keep the House open

  • It costs the Charity £25 to accommodate one family for one night

  • The longest time a family has stayed in our House is 828 days

To maintain a degree of normality, siblings and extended family can visit and stay at the House too. We offer normality, somewhere families can call home, when the rest of their world is in turmoil.

New project:
We are currently working with Guy's & St Thomas' Charity to build and run a new Ronald McDonald House for families of children being treated at the Evelina London Children's Hospital and the neo-natal intensive care unit at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital in Lambeth.

The current 20 bedroom House is not big enough and has a daily waiting list of at least 10 families. The existing House is also located some distance from the children's hospital, which means that families have to catch a bus or arrange for taxis to get to and from the ward. All our Ronald McDonald Houses pride themselves on being 'just a stone's throw from the hospital' so families can be on hand for their child at a moment's notice, but unfortunately this is not the case at present.

"As we live in Brighton it would have cost so much money and caused much heartache to get to London each day, giving us little time with our son. The House was able to give us a room the day Zeke was born. Ronald McDonald House Guy's and St Thomas' is such a special memory for us now that our son has passed away, that we got to spend that time together. The grief for our son is never-ending but we give thanks to those that made his time with us as easy and best as they could. This Charity is one in a million to us and we want to help spread the word and keep families together in hospital."
