Welcome to Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent Charity which aims to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.

  • Duchess of Cambridge to visit Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey

The Duchess of Cambridge will be visiting Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey on Valentine’s Day, set to be one of her first public solo engagements. The Duchess will be seeing the 15 new apartments recently added to the 69 bedroom House, and sitting down with some of the families who use this free “home away from home” accommodation. This is really exciting news for the House, watch this space for more details!

  • Barnet pair’s high altitude adventure for charity

Two intrepid adventurers from New Barnet, north London, have conquered the inhospitable slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise nearly £2,000 for our Charity. Housemates Leo Nakhimoff, 27, and Oliver Shanks, 34, reached a height of 19,341 feet between Sunday 1 January and Friday 6 January 2012. Thank you very much, your efforts are so inspiring. Read more about their expedition here.

  • Happy New Year

We want to wish all our supporters and families a Happy New Year! We are very excited about 2012, as it sees the completion of two major projects in Manchester and London. There are also a few other surprise plans in store and we are counting on your amazing support. In the mean time, have a look at the 2011 issue of our house magazine here.

  • Bring festive cheer to our Houses

There’s no place like home for the holidays. But for some families with children in hospital, “home” isn’t gathered around their family tree. It’s being close to their sick child miles from their front door. Visit our page to find out how we support families 365 days a year, even on Christmas day and throughout December. But more importantly, find out how you can get involved and help keep families together during the holidays.
