Leave a legacy

You probably know within a few pounds how much is in your bank account, and where it should go if you were to suddenly die. But chances are you haven’t got round to writing a will to ensure that all this happens.

A will can secure your loved ones’ futures, keep heirlooms and sentimental items in the family and secure the continuing good works of your favourite charity.

With one in 10 children being admitted to hospital every year, lots of families need a safe haven a stone’s throw from the children’s ward.

At RMHC, we have ambitious plans to build more Houses for parents and siblings of children in hospitals. But we need your help to realise this bold vision.

Three ways to make a bequest

There are three types of legacy that you can leave to RMHC:

  • Possessions – ‘specific legacies’ You can leave shares, items of jewellery or art that may be valuable to the charity.
  • Fixed sums – ‘pecuniary legacies’  For example, you may decide to leave £10,000 to RMHC when you die.  Bear in mind, though,  that your gift will depreciate so you may need to revise your will from time to time.
  • What’s left over – ‘residuary legacies’. You give to us whatever remains after funeral costs, household expenses, tax due, costs of administering your estate etc, and after you have bequeathed money and possessions.

Do take advice from your solicitor to ensure your new will or updated will gets drafted correctly.
