Kent-based business helps families with children in hospital

A business based in Erith has donated over £22,000 to Ronald McDonald House Camberwell, the free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families who have children at King’s College Hospital in London.

Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is one of the world’s leading agricultural processors and food ingredient providers. The donation was made through ADM Cares - a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide.

The money will be used by the 24-bedroom House to spruce up the front garden, fund events and sponsor a bedroom at the House which last year provided over 400 family stays for families to be with their seriously ill children.

Gillian Mulloy, fundraiser at Ronald McDonald House Camberwell says:

“We would like to thank Archer Daniels Midland for their generous donation to our House and for showing their support to the many families that stay with us while their child is in hospital.”

Notes to editors

1. Ronald McDonald House Camberwell is run by Ronald McDonald House Charities - an independent charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK. It enables seriously ill children to have their families close by when they are undergoing treatment and allows them to maintain a degree of normal family life.

There are 14 Ronald McDonald Houses in the UK and in 2014 they helped support over 6,000 families with children in hospital.

Ronald McDonald House Charities relies on the generosity of supporters and fundraisers, including McDonald’s customers, without whom it would be unable to continue its work.

The Charity was founded in 1989 and has been keeping families together for more than 25 years.
