McDonald's Make a Real Difference raising £350,000

On Saturday 25 October, McDonald’s UK made a real difference to the lives of families with children in hospital by raising awareness and funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

‘Make a Real Difference Day’ saw restaurant staff across the UK organise everything from face painting to car washes to staff fancy dress! McDonald’s and its participating franchisees also donated £1 to Ronald McDonald House Charities for every sale made between 1pm and 2pm.

The total figure has now been announced at £350,000, with many restaurants still logging the amounts they have raised. This is an incredible amount and makes a huge difference in supporting families with children in hospital.

Celebrity dad Jeff Brazier is supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities’ 25th anniversary and the fundraising event that took place on Saturday. Speaking at the campaign launch at Ronald McDonald House Camberwell he said: “I am hugely impressed by the support Ronald McDonald House Charities gives to families across the UK and am proud to be involved in today’s fundraising event. Providing families with somewhere to stay close to their children when they are in hospital helps to take away some of the stress during these difficult times so families can focus on what really matters.”

Members of the public were also asked to show their support by uploading a family selfie using the hashtag #selfie4RMHC. A selection of photos were then chosen to appear in lights on the McDonald’s Piccadilly Circus digital billboard for all to see.

Mark Hawthorne, Managing Director of McDonald’s UK said on Saturday: “I’m incredibly proud that McDonald’s has been a huge supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities over the past 25 years. The Houses have and will continue to support thousands of families when they need it most to ensure that they can stay together. I hope everyone gets involved and comes down to a restaurant at lunchtime today to show their support.”

We would like to thank everyone for their support during the weekend and for making a real difference to the families we support. We will be announcing the figure raised shortly, so watch this space.
