Ronald McDonald Houses give families the chance to remain close to their child whilst they are in hospital. Their location, as close as possible to one of fourteen specialist children's hospitals across the UK, means that families can be by their child's bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life and reducing emotional and financial strain. To ensure a sense of closeness, where possible, a direct telephone line connects families' rooms in the Ronald McDonald House to their child's ward.
Our Houses are run by a dedicated team of caring and compassionate staff, volunteers and supporters, without whom we would not be able to offer our families the support and care they need. In 2017 the Houses supported over 8,000 families while their child was in a specialist children's hospital. Take a look at our Houses to find out more about each of them.
The family accommodation we provide is free of charge and a stone's throw from the children's ward.
In 2016, over 7,000 families stayed in a Ronald McDonald House, close to their children in hospital.
Every bedroom in a Ronald McDonald House has a telephone linked directly to the children's ward.
Our Houses are open 365 days a year, providing free accommodation and a place for families to rest, relax, eat and be together, away from the stress of the hospital ward.
