Ronald McDonald House Guy's and St Thomas'

To help continue to support thousands of families each year you can donate directly to this House.

About this house

Guy's and St Thomas' is where it all started for Ronald McDonald House Charities in the UK. Our very first House opened to support the families of children staying at Guy's and St Thomas' in 1990. The House accommodates up to 20 families in a warm and peaceful setting – away from the stresses of the ward. Families have the use of self-catering kitchens, lounge areas, laundry facilities, a playroom and the garden, meaning that they can make themselves feel right at home.

In 2015 the House helped 325 families stay close to their child in hospital.

Despite being the oldest Ronald McDonald House in the UK our running and maintenance costs mean that we require the public's continuous support. Thanks to our supporters, in June 2015 we started on relocating and expanding our House to 59 bedrooms.

About the hospital

Evelina London Children's Hospital is part of the Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust. It is a tertiary children’s hospital providing specialist services for the south east of England and beyond and is a designated national centre for children’s cardiac and other specialist services.

New Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Charities has started construction on a brand new 59 bedroom Ronald McDonald House at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The House will provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families with children receiving treatment at the Hospital. The House will be located off Lambeth Road, just a five minute walk to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital with construction work expecting to finish in autumn 2016.

"As we live in Brighton it would have cost so much money and caused much heartache to get to London each day, giving us little time with our son. The House was able to give us a room the day Zeke was born. Ronald McDonald House Guy's and St Thomas' is such a special memory for us now that our son has passed away, that we got to spend that time together. The grief for our son is never-ending but we give thanks to those that made his time with us as easy and best as they could. This Charity is one in a million to us and we want to help spread the word and keep families together in hospital."
