About the House
The new Ronald McDonald House at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is one of our largest purpose built accommodation facilities. As well as providing 60 en suite bedrooms, our Birmingham House offers families the opportunity to cook together, to eat together and share their experiences of the day.
For families coming to the Children’s Hospital for day care, there is also a purpose built lounge, kitchen and play area on the ground floor for their use throughout the day. In 2013, the House helped 1,042 families stay close to their children in hospital.
The House opened in November 2009, but, even though the House has now been built, we still need help to raise much needed funds to cover the cost of running the House.
Number of rooms: 60
Opening date: November 2009
About the hospital
The House looks after families of children being treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital - one of the top four specialist children’s hospitals in the UK. The Hospital sees over 240,000 patients each year from Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond. The Hospital is a nationally designated specialist centre for epilepsy surgery and a trauma centre for the West Midlands, a national transplant centre, and a centre of excellence for complex heart conditions, the treatment of burns, cancer, liver and kidney disease. They also have a neonatal department and a paediatric intensive care unit.
The 5th Charity Golf day organised in aid of Ronald McDonald House Birmingham will be held at The Menzies Welcombe Golf Club in Stratford. Test your skills on the course that played host to the European Seniors Tour Ryder Event in 1998. With 157 acres of magnificent countryside all around and the spectacular Jacobean style hotel overlooking the seventeenth tee, the Menzies Welcombe golf course provides a truly exhilarating experience.
