About the House

The Ronald McDonald House at Moorfields Eye Hospital is a unique House as it is located at a specialist hospital that only treats patients with ophthalmic conditions. It is the only Ronald McDonald House in the UK where accommodation is pre-booked because the Hospital carries out elected surgeries, not emergency surgeries. The House has specialist equipment for the blind and partially sighted and provides a ‘home away from home’ for families from all over the UK and the rest of the world.

Number of rooms: 10
Opening date: February 2007

About the hospital

Moorfields is the oldest and one of the largest centres for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world. More patients in the UK come to Moorfields than to any other eye hospital or clinic because of their world-famous reputation. All children and young people up to their 16th birthday are seen in the Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre (RDCEC). This facility is the largest hospital anywhere in the world solely dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of children’s eye disease. It provides world-class treatment, from the routine to the most rare and complex conditions, to the 25,000 plus paediatric patient attendances each year.
