Families take the floor at RBC Trade for the Kids
On 3 May 2018, families, staff, and friends of Ronald McDonald House Charities were invited to take part in Royal Bank of Canada’s annual trading floor event in London, RBC Trade for the Kids. The event marks one day of significant donations to more than 40 of its major youth-focused charity partners around the world, building on the regional RBC Trade for the Kids events that have been taking place since 2015.
Representatives of the Charity answered questions about Ronald McDonald House Charities and families shared their experiences of staying at a Ronald McDonald House. One staff member said afterwards, “The best thing for me, personally, was the welcome we got from the RBC staff - they were amazing. Most of all the reception they gave our families, making them feel so special. Baby Reuben fell asleep on RBC staff, safe and comfortable in their arms - for me that says it all.”
Mum Elke, took to the floor to share her story. She has been staying with us since February when her 11 year old daughter, Milla, was admitted to Evelina London Children’s Hospital for a kidney transplant. The family travelled from Jersey, an hour’s flight away, so that Milla could get access to the specialist medical care she needs. As daily commuting from home wasn’t an option, staying at our Evelina London House has been invaluable, and meant that Elke’s been able to support her daughter every step of the way.
