Shop fun day brings in cash for charity

A fun day for children and families at the Titchfield One Stop shop has raised over £1,500 for charity.

Staff at the One Stop convenience store pulled out all the stops on Friday 22 August with a bake sale, face painting and raffle to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Southampton.

The new 53 bedroom facility – due to open in autumn of this year – will offer ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families of children being treated at Southampton Children’s Hospital and the adjacent Princess Anne Hospital.

Tiffany Walcroft from Divine Hair in Titchfield was on hand to oversee the big event of the day - the sponsored headshave of Store Manager Simone Holdaway who had her locks lopped off in front of a crowd of over 100 colleagues and customers.

Simone says “I’m so proud of the amount we have been able to raise. It was a great day for the community with a fantastic turnout and we hope we have raised awareness of Ronald McDonald House Southampton and the important work that it does.”

3. Ronald McDonald House Southampton is being built and will be run by Ronald McDonald House Charities, an independent charity that provides free accommodation to families with sick children in specialist children’s hospitals across the UK.

4. Ronald McDonald House Charities opened in 1989 and last year helped support over 7,000 families with children in hospital. The Charity, which this year celebrates 25 years of keeping families together, relies on the generosity of supporters and fundraisers, including McDonald’s customers, without whom it would be unable to continue its work.
