About this House

The Ronald McDonald House at Arrowe Park Hospital is situated inside the hospital itself, occupying the first floor and providing respite for families quite literally seconds from their sick child's bed. Our facility is equipped with 7 en suite rooms in which families can relax – away from the busy ward. We also have a kitchen with laundry facilities, where families can cook and be together, just as they would at home, to make sure they can wake from a night's stay well rested, well fed and feeling ready for whatever the day may bring.

In 2017, the House helped 73 families stay close to their babies in hospital.

The average stay at our House in Arrowe Park Hospital is 22 nights, with our longest stay being 180 nights, and it currently costs around £100,000 per year to keep operational.

Ronald McDonald House Arrowe Park is more than just a place to stay. It offers comfort, support and a safe environment where families can interact, share their experiences and know that they will always have a shoulder to cry on.

About the hospital

Arrowe Park Hospital is designated as a level 3 neo-natal hospital, as such it provides extremely specialised care for premature babies from 23 weeks gestation.

"The last thing you think about while your baby is ill is sleeping or eating, but to have a place so close to the ward where you can take a break and make sure you don't neglect your health, becomes a god send - especially when I was so very ill myself. It's a place you can lean on people and open up about everything and have a good cry."
