About This House
Ronald McDonald House Brighton sits opposite the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in the centre of the city. The House provides free accommodation, with all the comforts of a family home, to families with children and premature babies in the hospital.
In 2017 the House helped 207 families stay close to their children in hospital.
The original Ronald McDonald House Brighton opened its doors to families in April of 1999 and was relocated to a new site in 2007. The new House has eight en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, a dining area, a kitchen, a laundry and a small patio garden. Ronald McDonald House Charities has also invested £300,000 to open a further 10 en-suite bedrooms on the top floor of the children’s hospital – meaning we can now offer 18 en-suite rooms to families in need.
Ronald McDonald House Brighton is more than just a place to stay. It offers comfort, support and a safe environment where families can interact, share their experiences and know that they will always have a shoulder to cry on.
About the hospital
The House provides free accommodation to families that have children being treated at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, a specialist department for the care of premature and sick newborn babies.
“The Ronald McDonald House in Brighton provides a tremendous service for children. The staff are committed and the care and support provided is a beacon to everyone. The Charity should be praised for its fundraising and the way it focuses on the needs of families and children.”
Simon Kirby MP for Kemp Town and Peacehaven
